Bill & Deanie's Trip To Alaska 2012

  June 25th June 26th

We drove from Denali RV Park and Motel to Byers Lake State Park. It looked like an interesting place to spend a few days. Quiet, peaceful and very pretty, but no hookups of course. We had an uneventful day and the drive was only about 100 mi..  Gorge along the Parks highway was spectacular. A little bumpy in spots, other than that just a nice day.

The Byers Lake campground is right in bottom country and mosquitos were terrible.

We watched a movie by putting extension cord through the window from the generator. Of course Deanie had to do some taping to keep those varmits out.

(If you don't see the "blue line" grab the map and pull it to the left or right and the line will appear - Also the little minus on the left side zooms you out and the plus zooms you in)

Bridge over gorge on Parks Highway.
The view looking down under the bridge above.
A favorite along the Alaska Highway - Fireweed.
This is the "boat ramp" on Byers Lake.  No gasoline motors are allowed.
We believe this to be Wild Geranium.
Deanie in front of one of the "roadhouses" along Byers Lake.  There are three of these cabins around the lake that can be rented for the night.
This was one of the neatest doors.  The thing must have been 8 in thick.  The door handle was the best.  It worked just like a fitted glove.  You had a lever to pull on the outside and the door swung open.  Very cool!
